Dear friends and fellow loiterers
I hope you have found something delightful this leap year day. I’ve been enjoying the first Spring flowers which bring joy and comfort; all things shall pass
It’s First Sunday, This Sunday and of course that means its time for us to gather for a communal wander. I missed loitering together last month, huge thanks to Peter for helping out as I was called away.
This month we are in for a treat as Matthew is facilitating an exploration starting at the wonderful William Mitchell totems which were discussed a couple of months ago.
The themes guiding us will include (amongst other things) some questions that have haunted our perambulations for many years:
what’s in a name?
what is “authentic” (and does it matter?)
what is worth unknowing, saving, discarding or treasuring in the landscape?
and how does the rational mingle with the unknowable on our streets?
Of course we may go off on tangents that mean these mysteries remain unvoiced, let alone discussed or (whisper it) resolved.
Please join us 2pm this Sunday 2nd March at the sculptures outside the Allerton Building, Frederick Street, Salford M6 6PU.
It is appreciated if you can be on time as the route is largely unplanned and I cant promise you will find us if you are late. As ever the pace and direction will be decided collectively but I strongly suspect we may derive unusally for us venturing both inside and underground at some points. We will probably finish at The New Oxford around 4pm.
All welcome and as ever its free for all and we all look out for each other as we walk.
If you need more information or have any questions or feel a bit unsure and want to meet beforehand please do get in touch:
