THE LRM

The Loiterers Resistance Movement

July 2023 First Sunday

Dear friends, lovers and loiterers

It’s First Sunday, this Sunday and time for a bit of convivial, critical, creative walking.

I’m delighted we are continuing to wander outside the city centre and have been invited by Matthew and others to explore Debdale Park and its environment in Gorton.

Join us at 2pm on Sunday 2nd July by the Macdonalds on Wall Way (no, we will not be going inside but its an easy landmark and its always interesting to start somewhere challenging).

You can get there by buses 201, 202, 203, 205 from stop EO on Piccadilly, or from Rusholme, Fallowfield, Withington, Didsbury, the Heatons and Reddish, take the 42A bus, get off at the old Bull’s Head in Reddish and then continue down Gorton Road for 10 minutes until you get to the Hyde Road junction. If you fancy walking or cycling Debdale Park is on the Floop, after it crosses Hyde Road.

As ever our direction and pace will be set by the group, so I don’t quite know where we will be roam, but I have been promised a visit to a ruined Georgian gentleman’s residence, whose private grounds now make-up most of the land the park occupies. After around 2 hours we will retire for a drink and to share stories.

All welcome to join us, and as ever LRM events are free because the streets belong to everyone.

If you have any questions, comments or thoughts for future First Sundays please get in touch, email mlrose@thelrm.org tweet @thelrm or text/whatsapp 07974929589.

With love and golden apples

Morag xx
