Dear friends and fellow loiterers
It’s First Sunday, this Sunday and I delighted that Dale is facilitating our wander this month. For those who haven’t met him Dale is something of an LRM legend, and this is the invitation he has asked me to share with you all:
“This month's walk started off being about death then turned into not being about death, which includes pretty much everything else (result!). I call it the spurious walk, because spurious is a woefully underused yet perfect word to describe pretty much anything. Or anything else; it depends on your point of view. Glacial erratics, the Pankhursts, glam rock and foxes in the war garden are amongst the subjects likely to be completely ignored on this walk. The ignorant spuriousness commences this Sunday at 2pm, outside the Vine pub on Kennedy Street just off St Peter's Square. Biscuits will not be provided, so bring your own(preferably vegan, so they can be guiltlessly stolen; sweets are also covered by this category. And chocolate. Also cake). "Everything is connected, but finding the connections is why we rip up the map." I was going to falsely attribute that bollocks to some important political or religious leader, like Gandalf. But I couldn't be arsed. Frankly, Gandalf can make up his own fake quotes. Be fast and be spurious; be spurious Oranj's; be there on Sunday. It will probably rain.”
So, please join us Sunday September 7th, 2pm outside The Vine on Kennedy Street.
As ever our communal walk* is free and open to anyone. When we say these streets belong to everyone we mean that and welcome folk of all or no gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality or belief system and bodies of all shapes, sizes and mobility. *Our walking includes wheelchairs and other mobility aids, sometimes we need to derive around obstacles as needed because we know the city as it is built does not reflect our values. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any specific access issues or questions, I will do my best to help. The standard LRM rules apply: take care of yourself, each other and the environment we share. And don’t be an arse. The pace will be inclusive of all and we will finish after around 2 hours and find somewhere for a drink and chat.
